History

Moskito opened in 2000 and rapidly gained outstanding popularity and this year we celebrate 10 years of being the busiest and best in town.

It welcomes a clientele ranging from office staff having food and drinks after work, students looking for good value on premium drinks and great dj's and music, through to bar and waiting staff who regularly use Moskito as their bar of choice when not working.

A large part of Moskito's appeal is our eye-catching and friendly bar staff. Customers have come to expect service with speed and care, plus a bit of banter thrown in for good measure, it's a rare bar where all the staff can say they actually enjoy coming into work!

Moskito has live DJs almost every night, including Mash, Stevie Sole and Chris Harris, who have played to thousands all over the world, yet have loyally played Moskito since the beginning.

At the re-launch party following after an expansion in which the capacity was doubled and a large outdoor courtyard was added, legendary DJ Joey Negro played a set, bringing the house down. In fact he enjoyed it so much, he re-appeared  later that year and played another impromptu gig.

The extension has proved a massive success with turn-over doubling almost overnight and has stayed incredibly popular since then.

Moskito was short-listed in the SLTN awards for independent bar of the year and last year won Dram Magazine's coolest bar of the year and was highly commended again this year in the same category.

Our courtyard won an award for best smoking facilities at SLTN awards recently also.
